Mthandiwe, mzalwane wethu,
Umshado we-Mut’a,
ukushada nowesifazane ngemali ethile isikhathi esithile.
Lolu hlobo lomshado (indlela yokushada) lwaluvunyelwe ngesikhathi seJahiliyyah, futhi lwaluvunyelwe nasekuqaleni kwe-Islam. Ngokuhamba kwesikhathi, lwakhanselwa futhi lwaphothulwa.
U-Tirmidhi uthi:
“Umshado we-mut’a wawukhona ezinsukwini zokuqala zika-Islam. Uma umuntu eya edolobheni, njengoba engamazi muntu, wayengashada nowesifazane isikhathi eside ahlala khona. Naye wayebheka impahla yakhe, ayigcine, futhi alungise umsebenzi wakhe.”
Kukhona isivumelwano sokuthi umshado we-Mut’a awuvumelekile.
Bonke abanye abefundisi, ngaphandle kwamaRafiziler namaShia, bayavuma ukuthi kuyi-haram.
U-Ibn Abbas wayethi umshado we-mut’a awuzange ukhanselwe isikhathi eside. Kamuva wamukela ukuthi wakhanselwa, wabe esekumemezela. Ngolunye usuku kwaba khona ukungezwani phakathi kuka-Ibn al-Zubeyr no-Ibn Abbas mayelana nomshado we-mut’a. U-Ibn al-Zubeyr wathi ku-Ibn Abbas: ”
Kwenzekeni, abanye abantu baphofelelwe amehlo, kwaphinde kwavaleka nengqondo yabo. Bathi uMprofethi uMuhammad wayevumela umshado we-mut’a.”
kusho. Lokhu kusho ukuthi u-Ibn Abbas wayengazi ngokuqothulwa, okungukuthi ukuthi umshado we-muta wawungavunyelwe, futhi waguqula umbono wakhe ngemuva kokuthola ngokuqothulwa. Ngempela, kwalandiswa ku-Sa’id ibn Jubayr kanje:
“Ngolunye usuku u-Ibn Abbas wakhuluma eshutheleni, wathi: ‘Umshado we-mut’a ufana nenyama yengulube, igazi, nenyama yengulube.'” (El-Fıkh ale’l-Mezâhib el-erba’a VI. 90-93).
